9-Phenylacridine (9-PA for short) is mainly used in the field of photopolymerization at present, which can be used as a photoinitiator in the photopolymerization system, and can also be used as a sensitizer to trigger light for photopolymerization. As a photoinitiator, 9-phenylacridine is an important part of the UV curing system. It enables the formulation system to undergo rapid crosslinking and curing reaction with oligomers and active diluents under the irradiation of light sources, and is one of the important determinants of the UV curing rate and degree [2]. As a sensitizer, it can undergo a photophysical process to one of its excited states after absorbing light energy, and then undergo intramolecular or intermolecular energy transfer to another molecule (monomer or initiator) to produce primary active species (generally free radicals) [3]. In this kind of energy transfer mechanism, the sensitizer itself does not consume or change the structure. Therefore, the sensitizer can be regarded as the catalyst of photochemical reaction, and its role is to improve the quantum effect of photochemical reaction.
