Currently enjoying our 17th year of business, SynQuest maintains focus on fluorinechemistry, as well as extending our range of reagents with new materialsrequested by our customers and from our internal R&D programs for thedevelopment of new products. We haveimplemented cost savings by careful sourcing of raw materials and by scaling upprocesses for better economy of scale - our efforts have resulted insignificant price reductions for many products!
SynQuest has expanded our manufacturing facilities to include acontinuous flow production area, mainly for gas phase reactions, and a secondhigh pressure area for autoclaves. Wehave also invested in a process development lab, and completely renovated ourR&D laboratories. Our commitment to product quality was demonstrated withour new analytical laboratory, which opened last year. Our fully independentQA/QC department is well equipped with a comprehensive range of analyticalequipment.
To supplement our manufacturing capabilities and help keep productioncosts down SynQuest sources products and raw materials from all over the world.We've opened a SynQuest office in Shanghai and our staff there has helped usestablish a select group of reliable chemical manufacturers for supply of rawmaterials and out-sourcing of finished goods. However, unlike simple traders, we carefully analyze all incoming goodsand provide certificates of analysis developed in our own analyticalfacilities. We are routinely in touchwith fluorine chemists in Japan, Europe, Russia and China. If you can't seewhat you are looking for in our catalog, then give us a call. We know where tofind literally thousands of other fluorinated materials and if we don't know ofa source, we may be able to offer custom synthesis services.
In 2008, Central Glass acquired Apollo Scientific Ltd., in the UK. We have worked closely with Apollo for manyyears, including a reciprocal distribution arrangement since 1996. Apollo offers a comprehensive range offluorochemicals and also many non-fluorinated intermediates and reagents forR&D laboratories. To accommodatethis vastly increased product line we have increased our catalog and bulkwarehousing to 30,000 square feet.
In 2009 Central Glass acquired a world-class GMP manufacturing facilityin Germany, where advanced pharmaceutical intermediates and activepharmaceutical ingredients are manufactured. We can offer development of GMP processes from lab bench to large scaleproduction at Central Glass Germany.
Since the acquisition of SynQuest by Central Glass (Japan) in 2002, ourtwo companies have worked together, closely taking advantage of the differentstrengths to be found in each organization. Central Glass Group can offer customers a seamless transition from smallscale laboratory research and pilot scale at Synquest, through to fullcommercialization at Central Glass Germany and Japan. SynQuest is a bulk stocking location ofCentral Glass products, particularly Trifluoromethanesulfonic acid andTrifluoromethanesulfonic anhydride. (Central Glass is the world's largestmanufacturer of Trifluoromethane sulfonic acid.)
